January to March: Keep watering the poinsettia whenever the surface is dry. April: Starting April 1, gradually decrease water, allowing the soil to get dry between waterings.

Be careful that the stem does not begin to shrivel. This is a sign the plant is too stressed and is dying. In a week or two, when the plant has acclimated to this drying process, move it to a cool spot, such as the. The poinsettia was cultivated by the Aztecs of Mexico long before the introduction of Christianity to the Western Hemisphere.

During the 17th century, Franciscan priests in Mexico began to use the flower in nativity processions because of its brilliant color and holiday bloom, A favorite flower in many countries with its beautiful red, star-shaped flower.

An old woman approaches Lucida and tells her that "any gift is beautiful because it is given." Hearing these words, Lucida places weeds around the manger and suddenly they turn into "flaming red stars," or poinsettias.

In this book built around a beautiful message and illustrations, which wonderfully complement the. Legend of the Poinsettia – Below is a legend of how we get the Poinsettia, why we have it around Christmas, why it is a winter plant and what it has to do with Christmas and why churches use them during Christmas.

The Legend of Pepita & Poinsettias. The Poinsettia also gains its popularity with the legend of Pepita, a young girl with a gift for the Christ Child.
